2 years ago I purchased a Tyretrek universal carrier. I was looking for a robust attachment for my 4×4 that would take some load off the roof racks. With the Spare tyre, fuel, water, high lift jack, shovel and axe now carried on the rear it has not only made for easy access, but no gut busting from lifting and securing heavy gear on the roof.
The easy fitting, transportable attachment has lived on the back of the truck since purchased. Two Cape York trips and countless weekenders in the scrub the TyreTrek has been faultless in all excursions. Once hitched, I’ve never had to re-tension the mount and the strength in the pivot, even fully loaded has shown an over engineered degree of strength and durability.
In my opinion this TyreTrek is built to last. Personally, I can’t fault it!
We purchased the RV Spare Carrier. Great product, great finish and presentation. Looks good on the back, and is bult tough. Very happy with it.
Just back from 3 months travelling up the centre (including Oodnadatta Track), across to the west (via the Gibb River Road), down the coast and back to Victoria … 19,500 kms. The Tyre Trek bar on the back was fantastic. It never moved or wobbled, squeaked or groaned (unlike the passenger), regardless of the corrugations or water crossings.
